It's 420 today, but I've no use for drugs...and it's all thanks to this special. What's ironic is that this special aired 25 years ago ONE DAY AFTER 420. Ironic, huh?
If some of the characters don't look the same as they did during the 1990 special here, it's because...well, they aren't, at least not anymore. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, I've decided to use more recent incarnations of our favorite stars:
Pooh and Tigger - Winnie the Pooh (2011)
Alvin, Simon & Theodore - Alvin & the Chipmunks (2007)
Kermit, Miss Piggy & Gonzo - The Muppets (2011)
Michelangelo - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
Garfield - Garfield (2004)
Papa Smurf, Hefty Smurf & Brainy Smurf - The Smurfs (2011)
Slimer - Ghostbusters (1984)
Huey, Dewey & Louie - DuckTales Remastered (Wii U, 2013)
Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck - The Looney Tunes Show (2011)
Gordon Shumway - ALF (1986)
I used the regular Muppets because the babies aren't really being used today, and I can't find any recent stuff Slimer or ALF's been in. Now that I see it, a LOT of these franchises seemed rebooted during 2011 for some reason. I just couldn't stop laughing while making this because the CGI/live-action incarnations of some of the characters show how much more terrifying this special would have been if it was made in this day and age. Oh, and to make it even more authentic and scary, I snuck in the current mascot for McDonald's Happy Meals, since the special was funded by Ronald McDonald House Charities. Seriously, you could make an FNAF mod with this stuff and the scare factor would stay the same!
But enough ruining childhoods with the present. This special was my first introduction to the concept of drug abuse, and it helped me more than any other PSA I saw as a kid to JUST SAY NO. With two songs in the special by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman of Disney fame, I'm proud to be a 100% sober guy thanks to the cartoons we all remember so well! And on an unrelated note, Smoke in the special looks like an evil version of Earthworm Jim.

Nice drawing. I have never smoked or used illegal drugs, and I have only consumed one serving of an alcoholic beverage when I was 25, and I have zero intent to consume any more alcohol.
